課程概述

This course will provide an introduction into the most common biosensing principles with basic background information on the underlying theory as well as the current limitations of these technologies. The recent development in the field of biosensors is driven by creating robust and reliable devices for a vast variety of analytes while constantly improving the detection speed and the specificity particularly in food science and technology. Besides covering the sensing principle, the course will go into detail on fabrication aspects, stressing how microfabrication can be used to miniaturize these sensors. This course will give the detail on fabrication aspects, stressing how microfabrication can be used to miniaturize these sensors and their real world applications.

課程目標
By the end of this course, the students will have:
1. A strong grasp of fundamentals of biosensor concept and designing, device fabrication, detection mechanism, electronic signal transduction and interpretation of collected data.
2. Knowledge in modeling biosensor interface with biological molecules and tissue interfaces.
3. An in-depth understanding of the impact of biological material and different nanomaterials on the performance of modern biosensors for food industry.
4. Ability of identifying appropriate biosensors for research and analytical applications for real food sample testing.
課程要求
Biosensors are analytical tools or devices, integrated with a biological material such as enzymes, tissue, microorganisms, organelles, cell receptors, antibodies, nucleic acids, natural products etc. The biologically derived materials (e.g. recombinant antibodies, engineered proteins, aptamers, etc) or a biomimic (e.g. synthetic receptors, biomimetic catalysts, combinatorial ligands, imprinted polymers etc.) are also used within a physicochemical transducer. This microsystem technology provides a broad spectrum of application for the clinical analysis, environmental monitoring and food industry.
